IWC's new Pilot's Watch is dedicated to the legendary Spitfire

IWC Schaffhausen has released a limited edition watch dedicated to “Silver Spitfire - The Longest Flight” – a project that has two pilots circumnavigating the globe in a Spitfire.

The IWC Schaffhausen Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Spitfire Edition “The Longest Flight” was developed specially to help two pilots - Steve Boultbee-Brooks and Matt Jones, circumnavigate the globe in a Spitfire.

The project took two years to prepare and the pilot’s took off two days ago for their four-month expedition – a trip that has never been undertaken in a Spitfire, a fighter plane of legendary reputation.

Only 250 of the Pilot’s Watch have been created, which features a bezel that can be rotated to different time zones along the pilot’s journey.

The watch features a stainless-steel case, black dial and green textile wristband inspired by the colours of a Spitfire cockpit.

The hour hand, the 24-hour display and the date are likewise adjusted automatically.

The 24-hour display takes the form of a rotating disc below the dial, which makes it easier to read.

AN IWC-manufactured 82760 calibre created especially for this watch includes Pellaton winding with components made of non-wearing ceramic and with a 60-hour power reserve.

IWC Schaffhausen has been a leader in luxury watchmaking since 1868 and teaming up with Spitfire was a match made in the skies.

The IWC Schaffhausen Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Spitfire Edition “The Longest Flight” is available at select retailers for around US$13,750 USD.
